“I believe arts education in music, theater, dance, and the visual arts is one of the most creative ways we have to find the gold that is buried just beneath the surface. They (children) have an enthusiasm for life a spark of creativity, and vivid imaginations that need training – training that prepares them to become confident young men and women.” – Richard W. Riley, Former US Secretary of Education http://performingartsconvention.org/advocacy/id=28 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/c-m-rubin/the-global-search-for-edu_51_b_1949924.html

“Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things. And the reason they were able to do that was that they’ve had more experiences or they have thought more about their experiences than other people. Unfortunately, that’s too rare a commodity. A lot of people in our industry haven’t had very diverse experiences. So they don’t have lots of dots to connect, and they end up with very linear solution without a broad perspective on the problem. The broader one’s understanding of the human experience, the better design we will have.” –Steve Jobs http://performingartsconvention.org/advocacy/id=28 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/richard-lorenzen/important-pr-lessons-we-c_1_b_7820068.html
EJHS Theatre had a great first day of set-building this weekend! We made wonderful progress on our soon-to-be epic set for the Fall show, Play On! The talented cast and crew spent many long hours working on this, and it was amazing to see the teamwork. Here at EJHS Theatre, we don't just put on productions. These students get to learn more than how to project or how to recite lines. They learn the value of hard work and coming together for a common goal. We have so many hard-working, dedicated students in this department, and I can't wait to see this show come together!
